New Zealand School of Tourism STAR/GATEWAY Programme

New Zealand School of Tourism has an impressive and extensive range of Secondary School Programmes, packages and options to help your students get a head start in the exciting industries of airline, tourism and travel. If you want to get in touch with one of our team to discuss our programmes you can give us a call on 09 359 9283. If you want to speak directly to one of our experienced engagement managers, their details are on the contact page.

We have a close relationship with secondary schools nationwide and many of our tertiary students come directly from schools. We recognised the need to offer an alternative to existing resources and assessments at Tertiary level, which led to the completion of packages for the National Certificate in Tourism Level 2 in 2003. Since this launch we have continued to introduce additional unit standards & resources, remaining competitive and proactive with other providers. With the fantastic ability to quickly enhance and develop our resources and act on feedback and ideas received from secondary schools, ensuring our resources match what works best for high schools, tourism teachers and secondary schools nationwide. Our resources include student workbooks, teacher manuals & assessments for all unit standards included in the New Zealand Certificate in Tourism Level 2 & Level 3. Teacher manuals include a copy of the student workbook complete with all answers, extra resources and activities which will save on your planning and preparation time. New Zealand School of Tourism offer the following units for schools who may have just one student wanting to do tourism, through to schools who have teachers delivering tourism to several classes. Schools who hold accreditation for tourism can purchase either the budget or fully inclusive option - you choose the option that best suits you. Schools who do not hold accreditation for tourism can only purchase the fully inclusive option if they want the students to receive their unit standard credits.

Gateway

New Zealand School of Tourism welcomes you to our Gateway Resources. These resources are industry specific unit standards in Tourism, Travel, Hospitality, Retail and Aviation. These unit standards will help students develop new skills and knowledge in the workplace and in their local community. All units are available as either a hard copy or as online e-books.
We offer a range of unit standards that can count towards the 20 credits needed for the Vocational Pathways Services Industries sector.
A career in the service industries sector generally means a career working with people. Students who choose this path will develop good communication skills, enjoy working in teams and have a focus on selling themselves, their company and their country to customers.
